Chris Dorman - 2:00 p.m. Chris Dorman released his first album, To Begin Again, in 2008, featuring 12 original songs with more than 20 Michigan musicians playing banjo, marimba, udu, cello, harmonica, saw, pedal steel, bass, violin, hammered dulcimer, and more. Chris' songs come from the heart, relfecting on life, growth, community, parenthood, friendships, and love. Chris' 2nd Annual Westside Summer Fest performance will feature Chris on vocals, guitar, and hammered dulcimer, Trevor Hobbs on drums and Kelly Pond on violin. Chris Dorman Samples: Family Farm and We Are Beauty (MP3 files) Beasts Squad Camp - 2:45 p.m. Beasts Squad made their debut at the 1st Annual Westside Summer Fest, with their own spin on the classic Rockin' Robin. This dynamic Westside group returns in 2008 with fresh songs and moves! Thom Jayne and the Nomads - 3:00 p.m. With their unique fusion of digeridoos, trumpets, guitars, fiddles, and African percussion, the Nomads are a hard-to-categorize blend of world music, jazz, and celtic influences. Thom Jayne’s first release, The Forgotten Conquest, received award-winning recognition in the John Lennon Songwriters Contest and the Nomads won WYCE Jammie Awards in 2002 and 2006. The Nomads' latest CD release, “Road Trip,” defines the band’s signature acoustic yet hard-driving sound. The band features Thom Jayne (guitar and digeridoo), Rich Illman (trumpet), Kelly Pond (violin), Heather Kulaga (bass), Michael Pelham (drums), Jon Weber (percussion), and Greg Howe (guitar). Summer of Sol - 6:00 p.m.

For almost 9 years, this band’s musicianship and personal influences have coalesced into an exciting new sound and style devoted to Melody, Harmony, Rhythm, Improvization, and "Pocket". Summer of Sol grooves audiences across Michigan at dozens of festivals and club performances each year. Fraught with traces of the genres that inspired them into music performance (Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Motown, R&B, Soul, Pop...), and also tempered by a collective desire for musical evolution, the end result gives you live performances that are extremely hard to match, and very easy to enjoy.
The band features Lauren Gewirtz (lead vocals & percussion), Doug Fritch (guitar & vocals), Will Rideout (guitar & vocals), Jon Gewirtz (tenor saxophone & vocals), Jon Herrmann (bass guitar & vocals), Chris Harden (drum kit & vocals).

Powerlight Band has been delighting fans since 1980, playing Motown, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Pop songs. The group specializes in performing fo University events, Wedding Receptions, Festivals and various Concerts.
Powerlight has opened for National Acts such as The Buckinghams, Rare Earth, Najee,Sinbad, Carl Carlton,and Halls & Oats.
